woodworking 77 – David Marks’ Shop Tour
Last summer, on our Gadget Station delivery trip, we decided to stop and visit the one and only David Marks. If you’re not familiar with David, he is an incredible woodworker, and used to host a show on HGTV and the DIY Network called Woodworks. But the show has been over for nearly 5 years and David has moved on to bigger and better things. While we were there, he was kind enough to give us a nice shop tour. This is pure gold for any big Woodworks fans out there!

Nice! I miss David’s show on DIY channel. Very good information there. Thank you Marc!
Interesting, thanks. He mentioned using a dado blade, but we were never shown the table saw. I’m only curious because I’m looking at my own layout.
The next thing I’d like to see is an easy way to make torsion boxes, it looks like they’re really useful.
wow!!! what a great video.
thanks for the tour!
greetings from Mexico.
Do comments have to be approved before they show?
Oh I remeber when I could do ‘body-lifts’! Enjoy it while you got it David.. It soon goes! Great Vid.
Bester luck
Unfortunately, on YouTube, yes….
why do they have to be approved. BTW like your vids. They help me in school
that’s a great shop! If there isn’t already, Id love to see a video on those tortion box’s, i think that would be a great topic.
Yes I have a video dedicated to it. Check my website or just search for Torsion Box here on Youtube and you’ll find it.
i personally think that youtube has become like a dictatorship look at what they did to the Alex Jones Chanel
when he says ” laminated out of walnut ” , what exactly does he mean by that?
ive gotten gym and library cards laminated, is it the same process?
i’ll be making some wardrobe doors soon and i’d like to re-create the glossy vinyl look that all pre-fab’d doors have these days. would laminating the doors after the paint has dried give me this effect ?
im finding more and more, that woodworking is actually the easy part and
getting the finish right is the hard part.
a finish makes or breaks.
usually in the woodworking world, lamination refers to gluing multiple pieces of wood together. Nothing like laminating cards.
So I honestly don’t know how you would achieve that effect.
thanks for reply marc,
ya, i was wondering what was going on there. ive heard the word “lamination” but it means something completely different where im from.
wooden floors are laminated ( cheap pop n click stuff ), as are most pre fabricated chip boards ( ikea pc desks etc ). some mimic woodgrains and others are clear.
kitchen worktops are laminates.
when he said laminate, i just thought he had clear laminate heat wrapped around the bench.
thanks for clearing that up
