Being on an acne diet is a very fascinating idea. We’ve all heard that chocolate gives you pimples. We almost all have. So instead of causing a break out, you could prevent it by watching what you eat.

Nevertheless, a good acne diet is not easy to develop. This is very personal and its based on your body’s unique response to certain foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Write a journal. You might even want to take pictures using a digital camera once or twice a week. If and when your skin clears, stick to the diet that you were using at that time.

The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Up your intake of protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin has always been susceptible to breakouts.

* Stay away from carbohydrates. - You don’t have to completely cut carbs out. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates have compounds in them that can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. In reality, junk food is high in carbs.

* 3. Drink green tea - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. You really may not like the real green tea so the natural green tea drinks will work Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Androgen is a hormone that can cause breakouts.

* 4. Limit your salt intake - Most salt contains iodine. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” Iodine can be one of the biggest inflammatory agents in people with acne.

In addition to watching your diet, you should carefully watch what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. Look for oil-free moisturizers and natural or organic skin care lines. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
