An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. Almost all of us have. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.

However, an acne diet can be hard to create for a large number of people. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. Your advancement will mostly be by trial and error and not all by guidelines. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Keep a journal. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.

Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Up your intake of protein - Some dermatologists believe that protein is correlated with cleared skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.

* Don’t eat carbs - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. This is because there are compounds in carbohydrates that can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.

* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If you can, drink real green tea. The kind of green tea that you brew is the best kind. You may not like the real stuff so the green tea drinks will work. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Androgen is a hormone that will wreak havoc on your skin.

* 4. Limit your salt intake - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” Iodine is a major inflammatory agent in those with acne.

You must always be careful of what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. Look for oil-free moisturizers and natural or organic skin care lines. These are the least likely to irritate your skin. If you wear makeup you may want to consider switching over to mineral makeup. Dermatologists are under the belief that mineral makeup can fully help alleviate your acne problems while enhancing the results of your acne diet.
