What You Need To Know About Eczema Skin Symptoms
Life can be pretty miserable when you have itchy skin. However, there are several reasons why your skin might be itchy. Does it really matter if you go shopping for an anti-itch relief if the product is for insect bites, psoriasis, allergic reactions or eczema? Actually, it does make a difference. You need to know why your skin is itchy before you slap a cream on it. You need to answer a few questions about your symptoms and se if they match up with common eczema skin symptoms.
What Does The Itchy Skin Look Like?
When you have eczema, your itchy skin is red. This redness can be a light pink to brick red. Sometimes the red skin turns gray or becomes a brownish-grey. There may also be small bumps on the redness. Unlike insect bites, these are very small bumps and they may ooze a clear fluid. This clear fluid often crusts over, leaving a translucent layer of dead skin that can flake or peel off in a way similar to sunburn.
Where Is The Itchy Skin?
Unlike psoriasis, which often takes up small patches scattered over the body, eczema covers a large portion of the body. It often appears on the arms, hands, neck, face upper torso and the feet. If you have eczema skin symptoms around your eyes, then chances are your eyelids are swollen and you are losing your eyebrows and eyelashes. You may also be losing body hair because of scratching.
Is It Worse At Night?
Eczema often keeps you awake at night or becomes itchier whenever you are trying to sleep. This is different than psoriasis or bug bites, which often stay itchy all of the time.
