Assembling A Home Decorating Notebook
If you have watched home decorating shows on television and have decided that it’s time to begin redecorating your home, you may be wondering what to do to get started.
A great place to begin would be to make a home decorating planning notebook. You can simply use any 3 ring binder notebook, add some folders with pockets to hold pictures, have a divider for each room and put a few pieces of notebook paper into each section to make notes of ideas or keep track of what items cost.
Before you throw away a magazine that you have read, look through it again and take out photos of rooms that catch your eye. Don’t spend any time at this point thinking about the cost. You are just looking for ideas.
Remember that you are not only looking for completed rooms that you like, but also individual pieces. If you are redecorating the nursery and you see a photo of a designer baby bedding ensemble that you want, cut it out and put it into the nursery section.
Look at the colors of the walls in the pictures, too, and keep those pictures or make a note of color schemes that fit your taste.
If you have the time, when you are shopping in a store that sells accessories, take a few minutes to look through the home decor accents available and take notes of pieces that you like.
Think about your master bedroom and think about the things you already have on hand. Are you using a bedding collection that you love? If the answer is yes, look for accessories that will coordinate with pieces that you already have.
There are many websites that have room planners. They can be helpful if you plan to remodel one of your existing rooms. If you have never designed a room before, you will find very easy planners to work with and there are also more advanced planners for those that are experienced.
Use your notebook to help you decide what needs to be done in each room to get the look you desire. You can also use it to keep a list of what items cost to help you come up with a plan you can afford. You will be able to recognize a great buy when you happen to run across one if you know what the normal cost is. You will soon be on your way to designing the home of your dreams.
